- For Carl. A two scale modal piece with an open structure. Carl Birrs is my drum student with whom I first got to try it with.
- Eyes. I used to love to play the old standard “I Only Have Eyes For You.” But then I started playing with a free jazz group and came up with a moody piece inspired by the standard but clearly in a free vein.
- South Bronx. A little rhumba piece to commemorate my youth in the south bronx and all my Cuban and Puerto Rican friends.
- 1968 A poem written about relations between psychedelic images
- Out of the Blue Surprise/ 4th Glass of Wine. Combining two pieces. The first is a 16 bar tune which uses the 3 blues chords in a non blues manner, hence the title. The second piece in 6/8 is based on how I remember my Grandmother singing a song at Passover, where the seder requires participants to drink 4 glasses of wine. I put them together to play with changing metre and polyrhythms.
- John Cage Doesn’t Like Jazz, But he Oughta. A three part piece demonstrating why Cage doesn’t like jazz, but oughta.
